Genre: Adventure
MINECRAFT Last Update: PC
Minecraft is a sandbox video game originally created by Markus "Notch" Persson, maintained
by Mojang AB, and part of Microsoft Studios. It is heavily inspired by Infiniminer.
From its creation, Minecraft was developed almost exclusively by Notch until Jens "Jeb"
Bergensten started working with him, and has since become head of its development. It features music by Daniel "C418" Rosenfeld and paintings by Kristoffer Zetterstrand. Initially released as
what is now known as Minecraft Classic on May 17, 2009, the game was released as Minecraft 1.0
on November 18, 2011. Since its release, Minecraft has expanded to mobile devices and consoles.
On November 6, 2014, Minecraft and all of Mojang's assets were acquired by Microsoft.
Minecraft focuses on allowing the player to explore, interact with, and modify a dynamically-generated map made of one-cubic-meter-sized blocks. In addition to blocks, the environment
features plants, mobs, and items. Some activities in the game include mining for ore, fighting
hostile mobs, and crafting new blocks and tools by gathering various resources found in the game. The game's open-ended model allows players to create structures, creations and artwork on various multiplayer servers or their own single player maps. Other features include redstone circuits for logic computations and remote actions, minecarts and tracks, and a mysterious underworld called the Nether. A designated but completely optional goal of the game is to travel to a dimension called the End, and defeat the Ender Dragon.
Multiple gameplay modes are available, including survival mode in which the player must acquire resources to build the world and maintain health, creative mode where players have unlimited resources to build with and the ability to fly, adventure mode where players can play custom maps created by other players with certain restrictions, spectator mode where players can freely move throughout a world without being allowed to destroy or build anything and be affected by gravity
and collisions, and hardcore mode which is similar to survival mode but player is given only one chance and the game difficulty is locked on hard. If the player dies on hardcore, the world is
deleted. The PC version (Java Edition) of the game allows players to create mods with new
gameplay mechanics, items, and assets. Minecraft received critical acclaim and has won numerous awards and accolades. Social media, parodies, adaptations, merchandise, and the MineCon convention played large roles in popularizing the game. It has also been used in educational environments (Minecraft Education Edition), especially in the realm of computing systems, as virtual computers and hardware devices have been built in it. By late 2018, over 154 million copies had been sold across all platforms, making it the second best-selling video game of all time, behind Tetris. In September 2014, Microsoft announced a deal to buy Mojang and the Minecraft intellectual property for US$2.5 billion, with the acquisition completed two months later. Spin-off games, such as Minecraft: Story Mode, have also been released. By mid-2018, the game had 91 million monthly active players. Click the button to download now.
